The memorable sound of the bagpipe is often heard when entering the funeral service, memorial service or celebrations of life, during the service, or at the end of the service to lead the pall bearers and casket to the hearse or graveside. Traditional tunes such as "Amazing Grace", "Flowers of the Forest", "Going Home" and "Skye Boat Song" played on a nicely tuned set of bagpipes by a competent piper leaves a lasting impression on those in attendance and provides a reverent tribute to those being honored.
Families typically have a Bagpiper play at one or more of the following sites:
* At the church or memorial hall
* At the graveside or internment
* At the crematorium
* At the location of a celebration of life
A Bagpiper usually plays during one or more of the following times:

* To start the processional to lead the pall bearers and casket through the church or memorial hall or to the graveside.
* During the service with or without pipe organ accompaniment.
* At the end of the service to lead the pall bearers and casket to the hearse or graveside.
* At any prearranged time deemed appropriate by the family.
